Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations division. GFT’s impact is far-reaching as we collaborate with partners from across the company to deliver innovative and transformative IT solutions. Our clients represent Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. We also lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration.
As a Director of Software Applications, you will have the opportunity to support various Enterprise Finance, Group Risk Management and Canadian Banking units across the enterprise including business platforms, functional units and legal entities. You will work directly with various Enterprise Finance, GRM and Canadian Banking leaders to enhance efficiency and effectiveness by further leveraging common / enterprise-wide technology solutions across a number of crown jewel applications (Forecasting & Planning (TM1), Tax, T&O Finance, LLPS, CQRS, Fibrs, RPA & Productivity Tools). You will also manage a team of 5 – 7 highly skilled senior Application Managers leading the delivery teams.
What will you do?
Manage all development delivery against mission critical SOC1/SOX applications and productivity tools.
Directs the work – scope, schedule etc - of the development teams. (EPM, Tax, Fibrs, T&O Finance, CQRS, LLPS, RPA and Productivity Tools)
Responsible for architectural decisions for all relevant applications in line with the agreed strategy and roadmap.
Shape the future technology direction of Finance IT (front, middle and back office)
Responsible and accountable for the stability, performance, production, compliance, roadmap strategy and development initiatives for applications in the portfolio
Contributes to successful project completion within budget and on time by identifying risks and developing/recommending mitigation strategies.
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
Strong understanding of IBM Planning Analytics / TM1, Oracle - PCMCS, Big Data and Full Stack Programming products
Good understanding of Enterprise Performance Management concepts including Financial Planning and Analysis, Financial Consolidation and Cost Allocations.
Infrastructure knowledge, Client/Server, SaaS, Mainframe etc)
DevOps knowledge (Github, Jenkins, Helios, Nexus, UCD etc)
Good handle on SDLC concepts and extensive experience in leading large teams.
Strong Communication and presentation skills and comfortable presenting to Executive level audiences
Professional with experience on multiple projects with multiple interfaces and/or 3rd party software packages
10-12 years of demonstrated leadership experience managing, motivating, and providing mentorship to resources on high performing IT Development Teams.
Understanding and technical knowledge in cross platform and cross database space
Experience with multi-tier system development for large enterprises
Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills required to operate as a leading member of global distributed technical teams that deliver world class services
Nice-to-have:

Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills to work across functions and businesses
