As the Director of Productivity within the Canadian Banking division at Scotiabank, you will play a pivotal role in driving operational efficiency and effectiveness across various business units within CB. You will collaborate with partners across the Canadian Bank to enable the delivery of productivity initiatives to support the bank's strategic objectives and improve client experience. You will be accountable for managing the CB portfolio of productivity initiatives, including funding prioritization, portfolio execution, benefits realization, and sustainment.
Is This Role Right for You? In this role, you will:
Provide oversight and effective management of Financial, MIS and reporting processes and outputs in support of the CB Productivity Program.
- Act as a trusted advisor and partner, providing strategic direction and oversight for the development, prioritization, and implementation of BAU reports across respective departments/functions.
- Provide value-added analytics for key partners to drive business performance and improve operational efficiency.
- Own execution and delivery of reliable and quality reporting to support executives and workstreams with performance insights and strategic recommendations on a regular basis.
- Align KPIs and reporting to Bank and industry standards and develop new and innovative ways of evaluating performance so the Management team can better identify drivers of efficiency and productivity (i.e., identify and implement new KPIs that improve productivity, efficiency, and the customer experience).
- Develop and execute a comprehensive productivity strategy aligned with the overarching goals of the Canadian Banking division and Scotiabank as a whole.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and targets.
- Manage the CB portfolio of productivity initiatives from funding to sustainment.
Performance Analysis:
- Utilize data analytics and performance metrics to assess the productivity and effectiveness of CB.
- Conduct regular reviews and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with stakeholders from different business units, including technology, finance, risk management, and human resources, to identify synergies and opportunities for collaboration in improving productivity and achieving shared goals.
Continuous Improvement:
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the organization.
- Encourage feedback and ideas from team members and stakeholders to identify opportunities for further optimization and enhancement.
Project Management:
- Oversee the execution of productivity enhancement projects from inception to completion.
- Develop portfolio level roadmaps, prioritize funding and resources, monitor progress, and ensure timely delivery of outcomes
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, engineering, or a related field. Master's degree or MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in financial services, management consulting, or a related industry, with a focus on productivity improvement, process optimization, or operations management.
- Strong understanding of banking operations, products, and services, particularly within the Canadian banking landscape.
- Proven track record of leading and delivering productivity enhancement initiatives in a complex organizational environment.
- Exceptional analytical, data storytelling, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, develop actionable insights, and communicate those insights at an executive level.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including team management, coaching, and development.
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP) or Lean Six Sigma certification is an asset.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to productivity, operational risk, and compliance.
