The Role:
Reporting to the Sr. Director Commercial Operations, the Director of Patient Support Programs (PSP) will play an important strategic role within the organization. This role is responsible for the development and execution of patient support program strategy and design for our complete portfolio of medicines. As the leader of the Patient Support Team, this individual will take a vested interest in the coaching and development of others. Successful candidates must be proven leaders, capable of developing, managing, and innovating within the patient support program space. They must also bring a bias for action, drive for success, and a passion for helping patients.
How you will help ‘Create Possible’:
• Build and design an overarching PSP vision and strategy (across therapeutic areas) with a focus on enabling patient success.
• Lead the Gilead PSP Team to ensure seamless program delivery to patients and key partners while differentiating Gilead as an innovative leader.
• Lead the development and delivery of a governance model for the overarching patient services process and issue management process across all portfolios.
• Work pro-actively and reciprocally with cross functional teams to maximize insights and adjust to the dynamics of the market to provide a seamless patient first approach.
• Identify, manage and maximize third party vendor relationships to drive innovation and efficiency in the delivery of patient programs to positively impact the patient journey.
• Responsible for departmental Budgeting, Procurement and Financial Reconciliations to ensure adherence to contracts in place with third party vendors.
• Knowledgeable of the current customer/marketplace, key dynamics and policies in addition to key competitors and strategies from a patient programs and services perspective.
• Cultivate external relationships with customers or organizations that may play a critical role in the disease area. Work closely with key external leaders in the field to implement post prescription projects to compliantly optimize patient management and outcomes.
• Work closely with legal as required to ensure all regulations and compliance measurers are managed appropriately in the context of patient support programs.
• Participate in the Cross Functional Channel Team (Trade, Quality, CMC Regulatory, Patient Support, Brand and Legal) to ensure consistent channel performance.
• Build and drive success across the broader Commercial Operations Team.
Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
• 10+ years of related experience in biotech or pharmaceuticals industry and a BS or BA degree, including leadership experience
• MBA or other advanced business degree desired. Fluency in English required
• Fluency in French strongly preferred
• Six Sigma certification preferred
• 7+ years of previous experience in pharmaceutical or vendor patient support program role
• 2+ years in similar strategic role is required
• Successful track record of mentoring and developing others, as well as leading through change
• Demonstrated ability to successfully lead complex negotiations and contracting
• Strong working knowledge of Canadian pharmaceutical PSP landscape and Spec Pharma and hospital partners
• Strong ability to lead and inspire change
• Strong aptitude to work on complex problems in ambiguous and dynamic environments
• Working knowledge of regulatory, compliance and trade laws for the pharmaceutical industry
• Self-starter, highly motivated and accountable to deliver results at a very high standard
• Strong project, time and financial management, analytical skills, communication and interpersonal skills
• Adaptability and strong advocate for change, ability to influence internally and externally
• Works well in a highly collaborative matrixed environment and cross-functional approach
• Ability to execute with strong attention to detail and organizational skill
