In this role as Director, Office of the Monitor, you will act in a supporting role to the Group Head and assist in providing strategic direction, leadership and oversight for all activities and dealings with Scotiabank’s Independent Compliance Monitor (ICM). You will partner closely with all stakeholders across all three lines of defense, particularly in Global Banking and Markets and Global Compliance, to ensure the Bank meets both its obligations and the Monitors expectations on a proactive basis. You will ensure that the Bank maintains transparent, positive and open relationships with the monitor and their team.
Is this role right for you? You will be responsible for:
- Leads and drives a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

- Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits.
Do you have the skills you need to succeed? We'd love to work with you, if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree. JD/MBA a plus.
- 7+ years of experience at a regulatory agency or in a similar position in the financial services industry or regulatory affairs background.
- An in-depth understanding of financial markets, products, risk management and control functions.
- Strong written and oral communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Strong planning and organization skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively with senior Bank personnel.
- Sound judgment in identifying risks in order to proactively escalate with relevant senior management.
- Demonstrated ability to operate at a strategic level.
- Professionalism, sensitivity, and discretion required.
- Ability to solve problems, multi-task and manage changing priorities.
- Detail-oriented.
- Collaborative team player.
- Experience developing and managing teams and mentoring junior staff.
