The Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University is seeking a visionary, collaborative, and experienced leader to serve as Director of Administration in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This senior leadership role also functions as the Business Manager for Hamilton Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates (HOGA)—a dynamic dual position that blends academic excellence with strategic business acumen.
Your Impact
As Director of Administration, you will be the operational heartbeat of a department renowned for innovation in clinical care, education, and research. Reporting directly to the Department Chair and the President of HOGA, you will:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across financial management, human resources, clinical planning, and academic administration.
- Drive inter-institutional collaboration between McMaster University, Hamilton Health Sciences, St. Joseph’s Healthcare, and other partners.
- Lead a dynamic team of academic, clinical and operational staff members
- Execute on departmental and organization strategies and pivot to meet the departmental demands
- Collaborate with RMA (Regional Medical Assoc.) on administration/agreements with Clinical members
- Support research administration with key partners internal and external to the department
- Lead initiatives in faculty recruitment, research support, clinical programming, and educational administration—impacting the full spectrum of learners from medical students to postgraduate fellows.
- Oversee multimillion-dollar budgets, design and refine financial models, and lead Alternate Funding Plan (AFP) reporting and negotiations.
What You Bring
- A Master’s degree in a related field.
- A minimum of 5–10 years’ senior management experience, preferably in an academic health sciences or healthcare setting.
- A deep understanding of the Canadian health care system, university and hospital environments, and faculty practice planning.
- Dynamic leadership skills and forward thinking
- Expertise in financial planning, HR leadership, and complex negotiations.
- The ability to think strategically, lead through influence, and manage multidisciplinary teams across diverse institutional settings.
