Zurich Canada is currently looking for a Director, Large Property, to manage relationships with key Risk Engineering customers, develop processes, and review policies relevant to risk engineering to ensure they align with strategic business objectives.
Reporting to the VP of Large Property, you will be both an Account Coordinator and Field Representative supporting multiple accounts. You will be responsible to work with our underwriting partners to manage Zurich’s Property portfolio’s risk quality, support selected customer risk control programs, coordinate and conduct site risk assessments, develop account analysis and coordinate stewardship meetings, following Zurich global technical standards as well as recognized national/international codes.

What you will do -
• Develop the services delivered by the Risk Engineering team ensuring they are strategically aligned to business objectives and portfolio need.
• Effective leadership of multiple teams of remote technical risk specialists.
• Plans, recruits and assigns resources to assist underwriters with proposals and budgeting for prospects. • Provides project management and resource planning.
• Facilitates communications and integration between Claims, Risk Engineering, and Underwriting.
• Manages Risk Engineering travel and service expense through effective scheduling.
• Monitors potential changes in regulatory and compliance climate in territory and assesses impact on account service and resourcing.
• Participates in projects related to service delivery, customer satisfaction and quality.
• Identifies developmental needs to service the work in territory of responsibility.
• Conducts field audits to provide coaching, and improve zonal activities, workflow, and performance.
• Responsible for resolving technical issues within area of responsibility.
• Business Travel, as required
• Extended Hours during Peak Periods, as required
• Maintain a Valid Driver's License, as required
• Regular Predictable Attendance
• Manage and coach a team of professional and/or managerial employees.
• Recruit and select employees to join team and determine when team members should be retained.
• Establish objectives and set priorities for direct reports. Assess performance of direct reports at mid-year and year-end and implement development plans, and incorporate quality reviews on the performance assessments written by direct report managers.
• Develop a people management strategy to optimize staff development and retention, and manage performance of team members, including ensuring team members comply with company policies and expectations and take appropriate action.
• Provide regular, actionable coaching and feedback to employees to review progress, recognize accomplishments, support development and/or improve performance.
Job Qualifications
What you bring to the table:
Required
• Bachelors Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area related Property.
OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area Additional Education / Experience Required: Extensive risk assessment and operational management experience.
