You, and an exceptional and dedicated team, will be enabling Sheridan students and graduates to have access to the best work-integrated learning and job opportunities possible, as well as ensuring professionals, employers, and community partners are aware of Sheridan’s corporate training, professional development and continuing education offerings.
In this role, you will:
Lead and Innovate: Spearhead operations that enhance Sheridan’s industry partnerships and open doors for students to access top-tier employment, Co-op, and Work-Integrated Learning opportunities.
Negotiate and Collaborate: Create and facilitate partnership negotiations, ensuring our students are connected with leading employers and industry leaders and Sheridan is entrusted to provide exceptional industry relevant training and continuing education.
Team Leadership: Guide a talented team of professionals in employer relations, job development, and business development.
Marketing and Business Development: Lead strategic marketing and business development initiatives, positioning Sheridan as a leader in industry engagement.
Relationship Management: Foster ethical, reciprocal relationships between Sheridan and industry partners, ensuring mutual growth and success.
Be the Face of Sheridan: Represent Sheridan externally, anticipating and meeting the evolving needs of our employer and industry partners with innovative solutions and unparalleled support.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Establishing strategies that engage industry partners, employers, and professionals to expand and improve Sheridan's relationship with employers;
- Strategic and management accountability for a team of employer and industry relations business development activities, services, supports, including responsibility for Co-op Job Development efforts ensuring over 2,000 students obtain meaningful Co-op work-term opportunities and experiences.
- Leading, supporting, and facilitating the development and implementation of a “One Sheridan” institutional framework to employer and partnership relations;
- Designing modern, streamlined, and employer relevant practices for student talent acquisition, student and employer engagement, and services for employers to partner with Sheridan for talent sourcing and recruitment;
- Leading strategy, programs, and operations to create additional Co-op job, Work-Integrated Learning, Experiential Learning opportunities externally through employers and community partners for students;
- Creating and implementing unique business development, sales, and relationship management techniques (job development, employer services, training partnership, etc.) that adheres to metric-based development and revenue generation targets, while maintaining industry and employer satisfaction and provision of services that meet student and employer needs;
- Developing comprehensive marketing plan, assets, and ongoing presence to engage industry & employers;
- Negotiating with industry associations or other industry umbrella groups to create contracts, partnerships, and agreements to partner with (includes drafting agreements, press releases, and coordination of associated outreach to promote these new partnership). Serving on community committees, board of directors or trade, and other externally facing bodies to advance Sheridan’s brand, employer awareness, and to advocate for student employment/WIL;
- Seeking funding opportunities, sponsorship, and industry contribution to Sheridan and participating in other projects and initiatives as required.

You have facilitation skills and an ability to mobilize action, engage others and facilitate collaboration and results.
You have superlative communication and public speaking skills with an ability to clearly communicate complex information verbally and in writing across multiple levels.
You have a broad understanding of cultural diversity and needs of special populations and value participating in and creating safe, brave and inclusive environments.
You display a high level of professionalism, discretion, diplomacy and tact, exercise sound judgement and respect maintaining confidentiality in all matters.
The successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications:
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Education, Marketing, Public relations, Communications or related discipline
- 7 years of professional experience in the field of employer relations in higher education or work-integrated learning (equivalency to be considered)
- Significant experience in program management, marketing, strategic planning, public relations, and supervisory experience
- Demonstrated experience in leading mid-large projects or initiatives with multiple stakeholders
- Experience in event planning and program management
- Experience with report-writing, correspondence and presentations
- The following will be considered an asset:
- Experience in post-secondary sector
- Knowledge of Sheridan programs and courses
- Business development/sales experience
- A certificate or completed courses in Project Management, Sales/Business Development, and/or Relationship Management
