Your Opportunity
We are looking for a Director, Finance M&A to join the Corporate Development team as a key contributor in leading and executing the acquisition strategy as part of the overall corporate business plan. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Corporate Development, as the Finance Leader of M&A, you will be collaborating with a team of dedicated M&A professionals and will be responsible for leading the Finance due diligence and integration for all M&A activity across the organization.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Coordinates involvement and participates in the review of acquisition financial, operational due diligence and integration planning.
- Contributes to purchase agreement development and the finalization of financial items.
- Collaborates with Corporate Financial Reporting and acquired company financial team to ensure results are reflected in Oracle based on Stantec policies during pre-migration period; prepares monthly acquisition region reporting.
- Collaborates with the Financial Reporting and Internal Controls groups to evaluate control environment for any pre-migration period. Recommend appropriate controls as required. Ensure project accounting and data migration activities comply with applicable SOX and audit requirements.
- Identify, facilitate, and coordinate the need for ongoing dedicated financial staff to support the integration as well as the transition and training of acquired company staff to ensure continuity to meet day to day business needs and staff development.
- Ensures a comprehensive training strategy and plan is developed and implemented in compliance with Stantec's policies, practices, and procedures by all finance staff in the acquired company.
- Works in partnership with key stakeholders on the organizational (BC) structure, legal entity transition and budgeting requirements.
- Works collaboratively with acquired company leadership, Corporate Development partners and other FST and operational leads. Recommends, analyzes, and implements best practices to replace or enhance existing integration practices to support organizational change.
- Supports cultural integration by fostering trust with acquired company leadership and employees. Manage finance information flow and prioritization. Work within the team framework to raise concerns and expedite for problem resolution.
- Participate in developing the Corporate Development strategic business plan contributing to the vision, focus, and priorities for implementation.
- Be a present, visible, and enthusiastic champion for Stantec.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Commerce, or related field.
- Minimum of 20 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in a financial leadership role.
- Professional Accounting designation preferred. (e.g., CA, CFA, CPA).
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
