What is the opportunity?
The role is instrumental in developing and aggregating the bank’s complex liquidity position through scenario modelling and other analytics in order to form a cohesive articulation of the bank’s ability to withstand stress events and form risk appetite. The role will interface with senior people across risk and finance such as capital, credit, market and operational risks in collaborative stress planning exercises. The role also maintains a status monitoring and escalation program reacting to internal and external market developments.
What you will do?
- Accountable for the development and maintenance of the Liquidity Contingency Plan.
- CT’s lead in the bank-wide Recovery and Resolution Plans scenario modelling.
- Manages the monthly Liquidity Crisis Team including co-chair of meetings, stabletop exercises and presentations.
- Manages liquidity scorecard status monitoring of internal and external factors.
- Manages and develops stress parameters and scenarios matrices.
- Keeps abreast of liquidity positions, assumptions and sources and uses in order to conduct reasonable contingent liquidity plans by engaging experts in wholesale, retail, and intraday liquidity, tax, subsidiary banking as well as funding and securitisation experts within the bank.
- Reviews regional Contingent Planning documents.
- Supports the Treasurer and ALCO with liquidity status updates as required; gives direction for dashboard and status reporting to measurement teams.
- Takes part in strategic corporate initiatives as required or as incumbent is capable such as M&A activity.
- Provides support to MD liquidity risk in ad hoc engagement of OSFI or CDIC or BOC as required.
- Oversight, advice and counsel to key RBC branches and subsidiaries on the enterprise Contingent Liquidity Planning objectives for managing liquidity risk.
- Leads a small team of one or more analysts as workload dictates or leads cross functions teams in key initiatives.
What you need to succeed?
Must Have
- Pertinent university business degree or equivalent to meet minimum technical requirements of the job
- 10+ years of broad and pertinent experience in related fields
- Strong technical and practical knowledge of stress testing, and/or bank balance sheet management and/or modelling, and/or scenario modelling that can be applied to asset liability management
- Keen understanding and aptitude for the role of banking in the macro economic environment
- Sound knowledge of the:
• structure of RBC Financial Group or similar large international banking platform;
• purposes and goals of material banking business;
• functional units and legal entities whose activities, products and decisions may materially impact liquidity management and key operational processes;
• key regulatory and tax regulations; and
• competitive/market conditions affecting each material operation. - Superior communication, both oral and written skills, with an ability to facilitate and lead complex and fast-moving discussions
- Ability to adapt and set priorities and work plans amidst multiple priorities and constraints
- Highly organized and can manage and lead highly collaborative environments and initiatives
Nice to Have
- CA, CPA, MBA, CFA, or equivalent Master’s degree are assets to be able to better meet technical and organizational skills requirements
