We’re looking for a Director, Brand Strategy (DBS) that is responsible for managing and continually evolving Stantec’s corporate brand strategy, ensuring alignment with Stantec’s Strategic Plan to create lasting impact. This role will report to the Vice President, Brand Identity, Public Relations & Communications and will lead development of enterprise-wide external and internal brand positioning strategies and related campaigns to bring Stantec’s brand to life. The DBS works closely with leadership; Marketing, Communication, and Public Relations (MCPR) colleagues; and HR colleagues to develop high-impact programs and campaigns to strengthen Stantec’s brand.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and evolve Stantec’s corporate brand strategy (brand platform, brand architecture strategy, purpose and promise, values, verbal identity (voice), and employee value proposition), ensuring alignment with Stantec’s Strategic Plan
  • Work collaboratively to create strategic brand positioning recommendations that integrate research, voice and design, experience, and industry/client knowledge to maximize business impact
  • Continually monitor competitor brand positioning efforts to ensure Stantec’s brand positioning is unique and differentiated, being mindful of emerging industry trends
  • Work with MCPR colleagues to develop cutting-edge corporate brand positioning campaigns to continually strengthen brand awareness of Stantec in key markets
  • Partner with MCPR digital team colleagues to develop website content that reflects Stantec’s corporate brand identity in a compelling way
  • Partner with MCPR and HR colleagues on strategic recruitment campaigns to bring the best talent in the market to Stantec
  • Partner with MCPR and HR colleagues on ongoing internal brand awareness/activation campaigns, from onboarding to ongoing “moments that matter”, to infuse Stantec’s talent brand/employee value proposition into the employee experience, supporting retention
  • Partner with MCPR’s acquisition support team to develop bespoke brand transition plans to capitalize on acquired firms’ brand equity and transition that equity to Stantec

Qualifications

Your Capabilities & Credentials:

  • Collaborative, passionate, enthusiastic approach grounded in strategy but flexible enough to excel in a changing world
  • Strong digital fluency
  • Strategic thinker with a creative flair, with the ability to see the big picture and pay attention to detail
  • Team player with the ability to build relationships and organize project teams that bring ideas to life
  • Exceptional organization and presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with senior management, supervisors, peers, and clients
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Web-based tools and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet Explorer

Education & Experience:

  • Post-secondary degree in communications, public relations, English, journalism, or marketing
  • 15 years brand strategy experience, preferably in an agency setting; B2B or professional services client experience preferred
  • Extensive experience leading development of corporate brand strategies, brand architecture programs/portfolio management, and employee engagement/experience (talent brand) initiatives
  • Proven experience leading large, complex projects, bringing cutting-edge solutions to the table
