Posting Description
The Research Technologist II is responsible for applying technical knowledge and skills to perform moderately complex laboratory procedures and experiments. Assignments will be broadly outlined and frequently require some theoretical insight, the interpretation of empirical data and the ability to find and extract pertinent information from technical literature.
We seek a highly motivated and experienced technologist to contribute to a nascent DNA-Encoded Library (DEL) screening platform facility within SickKids Research Institute. This role will entail rigorous implementation of standardized DEL screening protocols, such as protein target characterization and pre-selection setup, execution of DEL selections at scale, DNA work-up of library selections, library sequencing, data processing, and post-screen quality control. You will report directly to the DEL screening platform Senior Scientific Manager.
Here's What You'll Get To Do
- Execute pre-selection and DEL selection experiments according to standard protocols.
- Prepare sequencing libraries post DEL selection and coordinate with NGS sequencing core.
- Archive and track DEL screen data.
- Support lab management responsibilities and ensure compliance with health and safety procedures.
- Foster collaboration across a global team of academic and industry leaders.
- Collaborate in the preparation of seminars, posters and presentations; present data at lab meetings, workshops, etc.
- Assist with drafting research manuscripts including compiling data, deposition of data, and preparation of figures
- Work as part of a cooperative, knowledgeable, experienced team
Here's What You'll Need
- Master of Science or equivalent expertise in protein biochemistry, molecular biology, drug discovery, chemistry and/or analytical workflows
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience at the bench
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Experience with protein purification by affinity and gel filtration chromatography an asset
- Ability to deliver on project goals in a timely manner
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Committed to continuous learning and improvement

Temporary, Full-Time (1 year contract with possibility of renewal up to 4 years total)
