Team/position overview
Part of the Enterprise Analytics and Forecasting group that equips EDC with the data and insights that allows us to make informed business, the Financial Planning and Analysis team is seeking to recruit a Senior Financial Analyst to join our diverse team of motivated professionals responsible for providing financial analysis across the organisation.
As the newest addition to our team, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to combine their solid accounting skills with a big picture understanding of business results and the related drivers in order to provide value-added and timely insights to our internal partners in order to drive business decisions. This includes accessing and combining information from multiple information systems to analyze financial results, developing and improving internal and external reports, and implementing continuous improvements. Not only explaining what has occurred, the successful candidate will have a passion for communicating the story behind the numbers.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide complex financial analysis and modeling to support decision-making and prepares data and input for reporting, forecasting, and corporate planning purposes.
- Develop and sustain management reporting dashboards and reports that deliver insights into financial performance, operational efficiency, and strategic initiatives.
- Ensure the provision of strategic, forward-looking financial information in a timely and accurate manner.
- Monitor financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Conduct variance analysis to compare actual results to budgeted figures, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Collaborate with senior management to support strategic planning initiatives, providing financial insights and recommendations.
- Track and analyze key business measures and objectives, to evaluate performance and support strategic planning.
- Provides insights for financial and non-financial stakeholders through analysis, forecasting and long-range planning.
Screening Criteria
- Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or other relevant discipline.
- Professional accounting designation such as CPA or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business, accounting and/or financial analysis.
- Experience working with large, complex databases.
- Knowledge of Power BI, Power Query and DAX.
- Advanced knowledge of IFRS, accounting and financial analysis principles and practices.
- Excellent MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint capabilities
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills
- Experience with queries, report writing, and data visualization
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
Assets
- Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)
- Direct experience working in an FP&A function
Compensation Details:
- CPA – Senior / Financial Analyst – Financial Planning & Analysis (Acct. & Financial Analysis 18): Salaries typically range from $92,355 to $123,140 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
Location
- Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.
- This role will be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa.
