The Faculty of Medicine, Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) invites applications for a limited-term Instructor and program coordinator at 0.80FTE. The position is to start as soon as possible but no later than November 1, 2023.
The Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) is a graduate level program offered in the Faculty of Medicine. The program will focus on the study of the clinical sciences as well as clinical placements and prepare PA graduates to challenge the National Certification Exam. The Coordinator/Instructor is an academic position, responsible for the oversight and delivery of the Professional Competencies unit (ProComp) as part of the MPAS first year curriculum. This position will also include responsibility as Chair of the MPAS Admissions Committee. The Coordinator works closely with MPAS staff, faculty and others, to ensure effective delivery of the unit as per the academic and administrative requirements. As well, this position will work closely with staff of the Medical School Admissions Committee.
The primary responsibilities of this position are development and delivery of Professional Competencies Unit (ProComp), leadership of Procomp governance, related policies, curriculum review and annual reporting. The successful applicant will also oversee exam development and delivery as well as provide oversight for MPAS admissions process. The role includes acting as one of the primary instructors in the Foundations and Skilled Clinician courses.
The position requires a PhD, MD or Masters degree in Physician Assistant Studies. The successful candidate will have experience or expertise in academic leadership and coordination, and prior university teaching experience is strongly preferred.
