Summary
Canada’s premier national morning show is looking for a dynamic team leader with live control room experience and a passion for news.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the morning team in taking our daily live three-hour morning show to air
- Oversee all writing, live segments and taped pieces before air to ensure consistency of the show’s brand and voice and an excellent standard of broadcasting
- Choose show headlines and daily news stories according to day’s news agenda
- Direct show hosts during the live broadcast to ensure an excellent performance and leading news coverage
- Keep on top of all local, national and international news
- Trouble shoot the live broadcast to ensure a smooth delivery of our program to our audience
- Adjust the show to reflect breaking news and developing stories
- Work with the producer/director to make sure the show is using the best video and audio to support the day’s top stories
- Ensure consistent coverage across all platforms (broadcast, social Media and digital)
- Manage team of news writers and production coordinators.
Critical Qualifications
- Proven experience taking a live news broadcast to air
- Strong editorial sensibility
- Strong news writing and script vetting experience.
- Proven experience leading a news team through breaking news coverage
- Willing to work early morning shift
- Exceptional communication skills – both oral and written
- Enthusiastic interest and knowledge of news, current affairs, pop culture and entertainment
- Strong editorial sensibility
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines while maintaining focus and composure
- Proven ability to make fast, competent decisions under pressure and communicate those decisions clearly and effectively
- Enthusiastic interest and knowledge of news, current affairs and entertainment
- Understanding of social media
- Ability to lead and motivate staff and personally set a standard for excellence.

Work Arrangement: Full-time in office (meaning that you will be required to perform your work on-site)
