The Opportunity:
WSP is currently seeking Environmental Scientists (summer student position: Ecologist, Biologist or Technologist) to join our Atlantic Environment Team, located at our Dartmouth, NS, office / Moncton, NB office.
The candidate(s) assuming this position will be responsible for a variety of field activities, data entry and assist with technical reporting and regulatory permit compilation/preparation. The ideal candidates will have field ecological field work experience. Since his position involves field work, it will require some travel throughout the Atlantic Provinces.

A day in the life:
- Conducting or assisting with a variety of field programs (wetland and watercourse assessments, fish habitat assessments, general wildlife surveys, vegetation identification etc.);
- Assisting with field sampling programs (soil, surface water, groundwater) and/or Phased Environmental Site Assessments;
- General construction site and environmental compliance monitoring;
- Implement safety protocols and coordinate contractor safety meetings;
- Preparation and compilation of regulatory permitting applications;
- Compile and interpret field data;
- Assist in preparing reports, tables, drawings, etc.;
- Travelling for field work;
- Promote health and safety in the workplace;
- Other duties as assigned.
What you'll bring to WSP ...
- Enrolled in a BSc. in Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Technology program and/or or related discipline;
- Demonstrated natural sciences experience would be an asset;
- Logical thinking and ability to bring practical solutions to field challenges;
- Strong organization skills and ability to schedule multiple tasks within set deadlines for various stages of projects, including field work and reporting;
- Demonstrated willingness to learn;
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment;
- Attention to detail;
- The preferred candidate will be self-motivated and energetic;
- Enjoy the outdoors, in all seasons and weather;
- A valid Driver’s License is required.
