Posting Description

This internship opportunity supports the Medical Engineering Department, part of Information Management and Technology (IMT) at SickKids. Medical Engineering is an innovative group of clinical engineers and biomedical engineering technologists who work in collaboration with staff across the organization in the management of medical technologies for the benefit of SickKids patients.  We provide expert advice, planning, installation, and implementation of new technologies that will help health-care providers deliver the best patient care possible. We also manage a comprehensive medical equipment control program which includes corrective and preventative maintenance of all medical technologies to ensure the safety of patients and staff.

Position Requirements: 

  • Open to graduates of Engineering programs, currently enrolled in Masters of Biomedical Engineering programs
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail  
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills  
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and take initiative  
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, organized and flexible  
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize workload  
  • Positive outlook and great team player  
  • Ability to show good judgment in decision making 

Position Summary & Learning Outcomes 

  • Participate in projects pertaining to the management of healthcare technology in the hospital
  • Support incident investigations relating to medical equipment and technology
  • Support the enhancement or development of new operational activities

Schedule Work Hours 

  • Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM 

Salary

·       $26/hour

Assets: 

  • Project Management experience 
  • Leadership experience 
  • Experience in a healthcare setting
