Position Responsibilities
- Accurate and efficient inspection of inbound/outbound shipments for fresh produce and meat/seafood to ensure deliveries meet internal specifications for quality and industry guidelines on standards and labeling.
- Evaluate quality and consistency of fresh and rejection of shipments that do not meet Walmart specifications or regulatory expectations.
- Monitoring product integrity within the PDCs, including but not limited to appropriate product temperature zones, optimum dwell times, correct rotation, staple stock re-inspections, disposition of sub-standard quality, damages, and product with labeling non-compliance.
- Timely reporting and communication of any deficiencies on inbound/outbound quality and/or compliance to coach and PDC cross-functional team members.
- Maintain and update produce and meat specifications, as required.
- Participate in special projects and shelf-life studies, as required, as a continuous improvement opportunity.
- Work with coach in managing customer and store quality complaints on fresh meat/seafood and produce and compile monthly tracking reports on quality trends.
- Partner with coach, as required, for store visits to review quality at store level and train fresh managers on improving quality and consistency of fresh DSD deliveries, inspections/rejections, food handling and storage, product rotations, ways to minimize store shrink etc.
- Contribute to the development of food quality goals and targets in Quality department strategic plan.
Physical demands
- May be required to stand/sit for long periods of time.
- May engage in frequent lifting or bending. Able to lift 60lb.
- Due to the environment, must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions including cold.
Qualifications
- Minimum education required: High School Diploma.
- Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience.
- Basic computer skills: e-mail, Excel, Word.
- Able to follow appropriate company policies, procedures, guidelines, and compliance requirements when inspecting products for quality and damage.
- Strong judgment, able to leverage policies, procedures and/or guides in order to make effective and informed decisions.
- Strong customer service focus. Asks questions in order to understand and meet associate and customer needs.
- Results focused, with a strong attention to detail. Able to multi-task / prioritize work to ensure that key deadlines are met in a timely manner.
- Able to adapt quickly to changing work demands and priorities.
