Position Summary...

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Initiatives within the Strategy Team, this Senior Manager role will sit within Walmart Canada’s Corporate Strategy Office, partnering with our Executive teams in setting & driving the strategic agenda for profitable growth for Walmart Canada. This role includes collaborating with business leaders across the entire organization to identify top-priority strategic initiatives, scope these initiatives, develop presentations for Executive team approval, and identify the critical roadmap to enable success. This role will support meeting and improving our business performance goals for Walmart Canada's in-year and long-range strategic objectives, collaborating closely with senior executives across the organization. This role is an agent of the office of the president, and as such, must uphold a level of strong internal influence to ensure optimal delivery for Walmart Canada overall. It is a very high-visibility role that requires exceptional stakeholder engagement and critical thinking skills, with significant independent responsibilities.

What you'll do...

Collaborate with senior leaders on the scoping and delivery of critical strategic projects

  • Perform analysis to identify opportunities, generate insights, and scope strategic initiatives to support decision-making
  • Partner with business leaders to develop a business case for the initiative including market assessments and financial implications
  • Develop presentations for top strategy and operational meetings to clearly articulate the opportunity
  • From time-to-time partner with business leads to work “within” critical strategic initiatives to help drive towards the intended objectives and financial targets

Support / provide thought-leadership in the development of the overall enterprise strategic aspiration

  • Support the development of Walmart Canada’s short-term and long-term objectives, by providing thought leadership, analysis, materials, and recommendations
  • Utilize market research and analytics-based insights to inform opportunities and risks for the organization through internal and/or external resources
  • Engage cross-functionally and be a go-to resource for senior leaders in developing strategic initiatives to meet short and long-term objectives, and critically assess these opportunities
  • From time to time, support creation of content for quarterly and annual business reviews

Develop strong relationships across the organization for effective collaboration

  • Foster strong relationships with the Executive team and business leaders across the organization
  • Support coordination across the organization to ensure alignment and synergy in strategic efforts
  • Support culture building and role modeling for the strategy office to cascade through the organization

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in business or related field- Master’s or MBA preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in management consulting, or strategy within a large retail or consumer organization
  • 1-2 years of people leadership experience
  • Strong analytical skills and structured strategic thinking
  • Excellent communication skills- written and spoken
  • Proficient in data analysis (excel) and presentation building (PowerPoint)
  • Results-driven, adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity, innovative
  • Strong team player and collaborator
  • Experience in retail or CPG a plus
