The Director, Merchandising ensures Walmart remains competitive as the price leader against other retailers. Temporary Contract Role: 12 Months
-Develop the portfolio strategy with alignment to the SBU strategy to ensure the delivery of profit and growth targets. Manage the IOP (Integrated Operation Plan).
-Utilize market research including category, competitor, and customer trend information to create the portfolio strategy and operating plan. Accountable to approve SCP (Strategic Category Planning) summary and financial overviews both short and long term.
-Deliver SBU sales, market share growth, gross profit, and inventory level targets through forecasting; pricing (price leader), cost analytics, (cost of goods & cost to sell) markdown, receipts, sales mix, and ad collection.
-Lead third party sales team to deliver exceptional customer experience, drive sales and business objectives (e.g. Walmart Protection Plan sales attach) while also managing operational expenses line with cost-to-sell expectations.
-Ensure the smooth integration of the third party sales team with Walmart Operations in store.
-Oversee the execution of 2 websites: walmartphotocentre.ca and walmartwireless.ca to deliver a full omnichannel business by working with third party suppliers and liaising with technology, legal and compliance to ensure that our digital go-to-market has the appropriate safeguards and protections.
-Work in collaboration with legal team to outline new service provisions and standard operating procedures, while maintaining compliance with relevant laws and company policies.
-Assist in defining and negotiating business terms within contracts to align with strategic business goals and operational requirements.
-Accountable for the final approval of pricing strategy, gross profit, and markdown actions with input from Category Managers, cross-functional support associates and vendors.
-Accountable for budgeted inventory levels through close collaboration with Category Managers and Replenishment
-Secure organizational resources (cross-functional partners, financial, people) to support capital investments, tests/pilots to fund future organizational growth.
-Responsible for associate engagement, development and ensuring associates (direct and indirect reports) have current development and succession plans in place. Provide coaching and direction to the Merchandising team and mentor associates throughout the business as required.
-Develop and maintain key strategic vendor partnerships and ensure all vendors operate in alignment with Walmart's objectives and values, at the department and/or divisional level.
Qualifications:
- University Degree
- 5 yrs Merchandising experience
- Operations or operations integration experience
