WSP is currently seeking a CAD Technician to join our Rail and Transit Team, located at our Calgary, AB or Winnipeg, MB office. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, this position will have responsibilities including heavy and light rail transit design and providing design guidance to other team members as well as a wide range of project requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creation and editing of drawings & sketches in compliance with Client Supplied Standards or WSP CAD Standards and detailing practices;
- Responsible for CAD and BIM design tasks as directed by the Project Team;
- Responsible for drafting of discipline specific drawings including the ability to generate sections / schedules / schematics from general arrangement drawings;
- Be familiar with document management systems to ensure drawings are issued, filed, secured, and retrievable in an appropriate manner;
- Coordinate and support fellow CAD Technicians in workload, good detailing practice and work procedures;
- Contribute to technical capabilities of the CAD team as a whole;
- Review and monitor the production of drawings to maintain quality, accuracy and agreed timescales;
- Identify improvements (where possible) to enhance service to clients;
- Develop expertise and stay abreast of developments in relevant technical field;
- Lead by example and ensure QMS compliance across team;
- Liaison with all discipline members, sub-consultants, clients, and agencies;
- Assist with the design of roadways and railway crossings;
- Learn the fundamentals of inspection and construction field review;
- Report preparation assistance and cost estimating;
- Assist preparation and review of drawings;
- Liaison with all discipline members, sub-consultants, clients, and agencies;
- Other duties as assigned/required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma in civil engineering technology from an accredited institution;
- New graduates are encouraged to apply. Applicants with 2-5 years related experience would be considered an asset;
- Experience with design of roadway and railway crossings would be considered an asset;
- Familiar Civil 3D and AutoCAD, Bentley Inroads or Railtrack;
- Demonstrated ability to work independently;
- Excellent technical, interpersonal and teamwork skills;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
