The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Director, International Sales, the Representative, Business Development and Sales – Mexico position is responsible for direct pork sales to key customers in Mexico, South America, and the Caribbean. The incumbent will be responsible for buy and sell activities to core markets and co-ordination of external/trader broker sales.Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:
- Work closely with Director International sales and participate in sales related activities including in market interaction with customers increasing over time
- Management of the day-to-day communications with customers, optimization team, plant production teams, plant distribution, cold storages, and global logistics related to Mexico sales
- Work closely with Director of International sales and the Optimization team to ensure smooth flow of product into Mexico and Latin American markets focusing on opportunities and maximize value to the Company
- Work closely with Director of International sales to develop a sustainable customer base for our fresh and frozen products in core markets.
- Resolve order and inventory problems by investigating data and history
- Liaise with customers and Mexico Credit Supervisor for timely tracking of payments
- Work closely with Mexico Credit supervisor to manage customer’s A/R accounts to keep them in good credit standing.
- Participate in daily market calls and provide synopsis of Mexico and Latin American market trends
- Provide back-up and support for Director of International Sales
- Build learnings of plant and product specifications and requirements related to Mexico and Latin America
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
- Limited travel to Brandon, Lethbridge and Paquin plants as required
- Limited travel to Mexico and Latin America as required
- Flexibility in working hours worked to enable communication with customers as required
- Participation in the preparation of marketing materials for existing and new business activities in Mexico and Latin American markets.
- Strategic support role for new business development in Mexico and Latin America.
- Manage product claims and inventory
- Maintain a good working relationship with Finance and Logistics departments to ensure on-time shipment and arrivals of our products.
- Other duties as assigned
What You’ll Bring:
- Post-secondary education in business, business administration or supply chain and logistics preferred
- Ability to build relationships and cater message to various levels in the organization (Master Data, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain)
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner with excellent presentation and negotiation skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while being proactive and performance driven
- Strategic thinking skills with the ability to understand strategic priorities
- Highly motivated; capable of delivering winning results work and able to work collaboratively with others
- Ability to travel to various customers on a regular basis to be in tune with the market, perform reviews and provide internal updates on our products as well as those of the competition.
- Ability to adapt to working hours in various time zones; willing to handle work outside of normal office working hours when required.
- Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Office Suite; experience within an SAP environment is an asset
