An opportunity exists in BlackBerry’s legal department as a student on the Business Affairs team to provide assistance on commercial contracts, administrative matters and research projects. This role will give the student an idea of what working in a support role looks like in a corporate legal department for a publicly traded company that is on the cutting edge of connected and autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.  They will provide assistance with various contracts, business service support and research projects. Specialized knowledge or skills are less important than a strong work ethic, attention to detail, willingness to learn, team focus and a “can do” attitude. An opportunity for those looking to develop a career as a paralegal, contracts manager or in a similar role.

Location: Waterloo, Mississauga, or Ottawa

Length of Term: 8 months

Responsibilities

• BlackBerry customer contract support  
• Formatting and filing (and occasionally basic drafting) of legal agreements.
• Research projects.
• Other assignments as identified throughout the work term.

Above and Beyond

• Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel and PowerPoint, including PDF to Word conversions).
