Your Opportunity
Our Carbon Impact team has a need for a Building Performance Intern based out of our office in Edmonton, Alberta for a term of May to Sept 2023. You would work within our Carbon Impact team in support of various clients in completing exciting projects supporting our Buildings group through building performance and sustainable initiatives. In this role you can grow alongside the best in the industry to enrich your career path by making a positive impact. Your role will be to assist the building performance team including sustainability leaders, project managers, technical staff and multi-discipline specialists through energy modeling of new construction building projects.
Your Key Responsibilities

- Working in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Stantec and its Clients.
- Developing an understanding of applicable safety codes, regulations and guidelines.
Role and Tasks
- Performs a variety of tasks which may include design takeoffs, setting up energy models and analyzing energy performance of new construction projects.
- Investigating new sustainable building policies and present findings to team.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the senior building performance staff. Control project tasks cost, schedule, and quality of work
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Technically minded and comfortable learning new software to support deliverables.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong analytical skills, and attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with both clients and project team members.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet strict project deadlines.
Education and Experience
- Graduated high school with intent to work towards a degree or diploma in Sustainability, Building Science, Engineering, Alternative Energy Studies, or related field.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
