The Opportunity:
WSP is currently seeking a Bridge Inspector who has the interest and drive to join our Bridges Department in our Burlington office. We believe WSP has assembled the best and most vibrant bridge engineering group in Canada with offices throughout Ontario. This is an environment where one is surrounded and supported by a group of engineers and technicians with unsurpassed experience in all facets of bridge engineering.
Reporting to the Burlington Bridge Manager, this position will be responsible for carrying out annual inspections of Metrolinx rail bridges and signal structures as well as OSIM inspections of bridges and culverts for MTO and municipalities. The Burlington Bridge Team has a highly qualified staff experienced in bridge planning, inspection, evaluation, rehabilitation, new design and project administration. The Burlington Bridge Team also collaborates with the Bridge Teams in Oakville and Thornhill, sharing work and knowledge. Between the 3 offices there are over 70 staff members,. A day in the life:
- You will participate in all aspects of Metrolinx rail bridge and signal structure annual inspections
- You will conduct municipal and MTO OSIM bridge and culvert inspections
- You will keep daily records and assist with report preparation
- Available to work flexible hours; days, nights and weekends.
- You will assist in creating work plans and coordinating railway flagging
- You will carry out other duties as assigned.
What you'll bring to WSP ...
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Previous OSIM inspection experience and/or completion of the MTO Bridge Inspection Workshop is an asset;
- Access to a vehicle;
- Class G driver’s license;
- Strong organizational and record keeping skills;
- Committed team player.
