There are two (2) vacancies available for this position.

The Liquor Distribution Branch is one of Canada’s largest distributors and retailers of beverage alcohol. At the Liquor Distribution Branch we are driven by innovation and have a passion for the future and are looking for a dynamic professional to join our team.

The Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of Government responsible for the wholesale distribution and retail sale of beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis. In 2018/19 the LDB recorded gross sales of $3.6 billion, generating a net income of $1.104 billion that supported vital public services including health care and education. It has a workforce of approximately 4600 full- and part-time employees working across 197 BC Liquor Stores, 15 BC Cannabis Stores (online and stand-alone), a Head Office, three Wholesale Customer Centres and three Distribution Centres.  The LDB is led by a General Manager and CEO who is responsible for administering the Liquor Distribution Act and the Cannabis Distribution Act, subject to direction from the Minister. As part of BC’s mixed-model retail system for liquor and non-medical cannabis, the LDB is committed to providing customers with an enhanced shopping environment, an expansive product selection and a high level of service.

The Shipping Manager leads the development, implementation, and administration of an integrated transportation system to effectively manage the physical movement of beverage alcohol and related products from domestic and international suppliers through LDB warehouses, distribution centres, private and public retail stores, to the consumers in the Province. The position manages all outbound retail shipments and hospitality customer pick up area.

The position entails a high degree of relationship building/management. Actively cultivating relationships, obtaining support and driving results to exceed customer service and on-time targets. The Manager is responsible for resolution of customer service related logistical issues such as on time delivery of customer orders and customer communication of challenges regarding product receipt or delivery.

Qualifications:

Education and recent, related experience

  • A degree or diploma related to distribution, business administration, supply chain, or a related discipline and a minimum of 3 years, recent, related work experience.*  

*Recent, related work experience must include:

  • Leading and managing distribution operations for a large, distributed wholesale/retail operation.
  • Experience in a multi-facetted and changing environment providing leadership and development of staff.
  • Experience working with a warehouse management system.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment preferred. 


A combination of education, training and experience may be considered; more than 5 years of recent related experience may be considered equivalent to the education requirement.

Knowledge of:

  • Supply chain/logistics, warehouse management, and e-commerce systems.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health, Safety and WCB regulations.
  • Knowledge of financial practices and budgets.
