We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Administrator to join our team and oversee our cloud operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing our AWS infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security across multiple products, both customer-facing and internal. This role requires a strong understanding of AWS services, cloud architecture, and best practices in cloud operations, including the AWS Well-Architected Framework and infrastructure automation tools.Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Three + years of experience in IT operations, with at least 3 years focused on AWS cloud administration
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional certification
- Strong knowledge of AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, and Lambda
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell
- Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure for multiple products and services
- Design, implement, and optimize cloud architecture to meet business requirements
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of AWS-based applications
- Implement and manage security measures, including access controls, encryption, and compliance requirements
- Monitor cloud resources and costs, optimizing for efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AWS services and infrastructure
- Collaborate with development teams to implement CI/CD pipelines and automate deployment processes
- Provide guidance and support to other team members on AWS best practices and cloud technologies
- Stay up-to-date with the latest AWS services and features, recommending and implementing improvements as needed
- Participate in capacity planning and disaster recovery strategies
- Create and maintain documentation for AWS configurations and processes
- Implement and maintain infrastructure automation using Ansible for consistent and repeatable deployments
- Apply AWS Well-Architected Framework principles to optimize cloud infrastructure for operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, and cost optimization
- Participate in, conduct, and lead Well-Architected Framework reviews for both existing and new AWS deployments
Location and other Key Details:
- You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W
- This is an office based role, hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
- Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
