Associate Software Tester

The Opportunity

The Associate Software Tester is analyzing, testing and implementing new applications or improvements to current applications and systems in Member Services.

Who you'll work with

You will work closely with our Member Services team to ensure our applications and enhancements are completed efficiently. In this role, you will work independently or within a team to develop and test an application based on user requirements.

What you'll do

  • Develops automation and analytical methods and processes to improve and ensure the reliability and quality of new and existing products

  • Directly participates in test plan development; automation software development, and test plan execution, results analysis, root cause identification, and reporting

  • Impact Analysis of plan or policy changes on test cases in regression or other testing tools

  • Analyzes failure reports and makes recommendations to improve product reliability and quality

  • Works independently to maintain, modify, and enhance existing quality methods & processes

  • Assists in the evaluation of quality standards, making recommendations for improvement.

  • Provides input in crafting modular test scripts

  • Understands object-oriented designs and methodologies (i.e. inheritance, encapsulation, aggregation, components and interfaces)

  • Execute both automated and interactive testing on desktop applications and web technologies

  • Use database tools such as iSeries, Cognos and Microsoft Access to understand the OTPP data model

  • General technical knowledge of operating systems, web pages, graphics etc.

  • Knowledge of database structures

  • Track and prioritize application problems with project managers

  • Write clear, accurate and concise documentation

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work with considerable degree of independence as well as a team member

  • Flexibility and ability to lead testing requirements for projects with pre-set limits; ability to prioritize multiple work assignments successfully

  • Able to learn new business rules quickly and adapt these into reliable effective tests

  • Ability to adapt testing practices with new technology

What you'll need

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Computer Science or equivalent discipline

  • Solid understanding of the OTPP Plan or related pension rules is helpful

  • Basic understanding of programming code (Java, Javascript, HTML, CSS, Protractor)

  • Experience with automation tools (TestNG, Selenium)

  • Experience with Test Plans and documentation

  • Familiarity with Object-oriented methodologies

  • Experience with Agile SDLC methodologies is an asset

  • Knowledge of relational databases

  • Experience with GUI application testing
