Associate, Engineer
Contributes to the overall success of the domestic and international energy transactions in Houston, USA ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? You will be responsible for:
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Responsible for the technical and financial evaluation of oil and gas assets (including but not limited to type curve creation, reserve estimation, base and upside evaluation, risk assessment, facility constraints and requirements, creating plan of development, developing economic assumptions, and running single-well and project level economics) – with senior engineering oversight
- Manage creation and maintenance related to any evaluation database
- Perform detailed review of evaluation database inputs, ensure accuracy and reasonableness of any outputs and sensitivities
- Preparation and review of technical virtual dataroom materials related to sellside and buyside mandates
- Contribute engineering portions of management presentations, including detailed slides, engineering analysis, and oversight of any related drafting
- For business development activities, help generate the technical engineering portions of pitch books, and when required, attend client meetings
- Provide sound ad-hoc engineering analysis as required by senior bankers and clients
- Maintain working knowledge of industry trends, commodity prices, and latest developments in technology
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills you need to succeed? We'd love to work with you, if you have:
- University graduate in Engineering, preferably with a petroleum specialty, or equivalent combination with work experience;
- Over 3 years of experience working in engineering in the oil and gas industry;
- Broad technical oil and gas reservoir engineering experience (reservoir types, recovery techniques and technological advances);
- Exposure to economic evaluation (net present value) and fiscal regimes;
- Beneficial to have exposure to oil and gas acquisitions & divestitures activity, agreements and commercial aspects of the oil and gas industry;
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft office products and technical oil and gas software;
- Strong knowledge of ARIES, PHDWIN, and/or other economic programs;
- Strong knowledge of Spotfire and/or other data analytics programs;
