What is the Opportunity?
The Associate Director, TPR Practices is responsible for developing/maintaining strong RBC risk management practices to effectively and efficiently manage risks arising from Third Parties, in line with regulatory requirements - including end-to-end Enterprise Third Party Risk process, tools, applications, and external and internal data sources.
The Associate Director will also ensure Third Party Risk practices are deployed consistently across the enterprise, to enable alignment to RBC’s third-party risk appetite and compliance to the TPR Policy.
The Associate Director will work in close partnership across broader 2LOD and 1LOD teams, ensuring stakeholder engagement and adoption during the development, review and implementation cycle.

- Deliver on the TPRM vision and execute TPR oversight and challenge through a team of professionals.
- Foster strong stakeholder relationships to enable active and collaborative working relationships.

- Design, build, deploy and maintain RBC’s enterprise third-party risk process and practices, from a continuous improvement perspective.
- Grow RBC’s risk intelligence practices to ensure that TPRM capitalizes on all external and internal data assets, driving proactive and responsive risk management.
- Use data and indicators to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of practices, identifying opportunities for future enhancements.
- Support updates to third-party application and tools, working in close partnership with the Operation Risk Shared Services (ORSS) team.
- Lead projects / complex initiatives, including plan creation and execution plan, track in detail and reporting at the executive level.
- Be aware/knowledgeable of Third Party Risk regulatory requirements, regulatory trends and industry best practices.
- Support the integration of business segments into our Enterprise TPRM policies, processes, and applications, including the migration of their portfolio into RBC's enterprise solution.
- Ensure critical stakeholders are engaged and appropriate approval authorities are involved and sign off on new / updated practices and processes.
- Work with TPR Policy owner to ensure practices are well reflected in TPR Policy and standards.
- Provide advice to 1LOD and other stakeholders in the development of operating procedures to enable compliance against TPR practices
- Engage with TPR team members to ensure understanding of TPR practices and consistency across controls, providing support where required
- Engage with other team members and Centres of Governance who support specific RBC’s TPRM practices, ensuring appropriate alignment with supporting requirements/expectations.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
- 7+ years experience in the financial services industry with direct exposure to operational risk management and/or third party risk
- Leadership experience in process design and process re-engineering
- Good knowledge of global third party risk regulatory requirements/best practices
- Change management acumen and direct experience in delivering risk management change initiatives
- Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset and delivery track record
- Proactive, self-driven individual; able to execute with high level objectives and direction
- Strategic mindset and capability in problem solving, simplification, efficiency
Nice to Have
- MBA, Six Sigma certification, Risk Management certification
- Skilled in building a network, working in teams, and maintaining key relationships
- Demonstrated project management and organizational skills; experience working post acquisition integration
- Story-teller – can translate data and information into insights and advice; excellent presentation skills
- Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
