Associate Director, Reinsurance and Capital Management
Summary
Reporting into the Director of Reinsurance, the Associate Director of Reinsurance and Capital Management will assist with upcoming projects in our High Net Worth (HNW) International business. Our three HNW business entities are within Hong Kong, Singapore and Bermuda.
Responsibilities
- Reinsurance
- Support individual life, reinsurance, actuarial (pricing / valuation), treaty underwriting, RFPs, administration and internal reinsurance functions for the Bermuda Branch. This will include ceded reinsurance programs for individual life’s HNW business.
- Monitor and evaluate performance of existing treaties
- Ensure governance and compliance of affiliated reinsurance business
- Serve as liaison to the reinsurance administration teams, in support of new treaties and amendments.
- Capital Management
- Conduct quarterly reporting and analysis of the Bermuda Branch’s regulatory capital position
- Perform sensitivity analyses and forecast future capital needs
- Recommend capital injections/repatriations as appropriate
Preferred skills
- Exposure to pricing/valuation, financial reporting, enterprise risk management, including affiliated and third-party structured reinsurance
- Strong individual life insurance pricing and product knowledge, including traditional risk transfer reinsurance
- Experience with the Canadian life insurance regulatory capital framework (LICAT), familiarity with other frameworks a plus
- Selft motivated and able to determine what needs to be done, generates innovative solutions and makes decisions
- Manages complexity and shifting priorities in a fast paced environment
- Advanced knowledge and experience using Microsoft Excel
- Demonstrated technical, analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to collaborate well with all stakeholders whilst building credibility and trust
- Strong organizational skills with a commitment to meeting deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Willingness to work unusual hours from time to time, due to Sun Life offices within other time zones
Qualifications
- FSA or equivalent designation
- Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in the life insurance/reinsurance industry
