What is the opportunity?

The Associate Director is responsible for providing independent and objective oversight of Operational Risk (OR) management for the businesses within Investor & Treasury services. The primary purpose is to support the Director & Senior Director to ensure operational risk profiles for each business have been established, kept current and demonstrate fair and accurate representation of operational risk exposure.

You will work closely with the Director & Senior Director to support the implementation of the OR framework and risk management practices across the platform.

What will you do?

  • Execute and provide recommendation on policies, process and tools for multiple risk management programs
  • Initiate and lead research into areas of perceived elevated or emerging operational risk
  • Investigate large loss events/incidents to assess potential systemic weakness and ensure appropriate corrective action
  • Partner with 1st Line-of-Defense (1LOD) on execution and effectiveness of ORM programs
  • Provide subject matter expertise to colleagues and management on managing operational risk policies and procedures
  • Support a strong culture of risk and integrity through effective challenge and deep partnership with the first line
  • Support Director in independent, thematic reviews and/or emerging risk assessment to increase awareness of risk exposures
  • Contribute to and gather information required to respond to regulator, supervisors and statutory bodies
  • Develop or leverage risk dashboards and metrics to identify trends and provide insights that contribute to an accurate profile of operational risk

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 7+ years in combination of knowledge, skill and work experience in leading operational risk practices, audit or compliance functions within financial services. Risk Management experience within First or Second lines of defense
  • Graduate degree with designation associate with risk management
  • Ability to work in a team environment, building and maintaining a network of contacts and coordinating with a large number of stakeholders
  • Confidence to take ideas forward and to challenge others
  • Strong research skills – industry trends, events, etc.
