Job Description:

The Mobile Center of Excellence is looking for an Associate Business Systems Analyst to join their team. The successful candidate will have business analysis skills, a good technical aptitude, and leadership skills to create great user stories that enable exceptional solutions. The candidate will be joining an agile team whose mission is to improve the user experience in the My Sun Life mobile app.

You will be supporting the vision of helping Canadians live healthier lives, by guiding Web and Mobile agile teams build the largest network of health resources in Canada

You will work closely with our software engineers in making those visions come to life. You will support, guide, and inspire our software engineering team to reach new goals and heights.

What will you do ?

  • Assist in analyzing existing systems to support the development team and help improve the processes and mobile app

  • Collaborate with members of the BSA team to gather business requirements and ensure you have gained a clear understanding of them

  • Work closely with the Product Owner and Agile team members to understand possible solutions and create detailed user stories, including acceptance criteria to outline the project requirements (functional and non-functional)

  • Participate in discussions regarding project solutions to ensure they meet the needs and expectations of stakeholders while fitting into the long-term business strategy

  • Assist in the preparation of test strategy, test plans and implementation plans.

  • Develop documentation, which is clear, understandable, audience appropriate and accurately captures the key information required to understand our solutions

  • Communicate with our business partners in an effective and timely manner

  • Coordinate or participate in refinement sessions with all team members and collaborate with business for review

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the BSA practice

  • Stay current with trends in mobile technologies and how they could apply to Sun Life

What you need to succeed ?

  • College or university degree in Business, Computer Sciences, Math, or other relevant discipline

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Business Systems Analyst role

  • Minimum 1 year of experience working within an Agile team

  • Computer skills: JIRA, SharePoint, MS Office, Confluence

  • For Quebec's candidate: Bilingualism (French, English) required- immediate manager is a unilingual Anglophone outside Quebec

Preferred Skills

    • Prior exposure to Mobile Apps development lifecycle preferred

    • Great analytical skills; able to assess alternatives, risks, and benefits; attention to detail

    • Teamwork and ability to collaborate with others (technical and non-technical)

    • Ability to produce quality artifacts and meet agreed upon delivery dates; Write logically and concisely, apply plain language principles, proper grammar, and sentence structure.

    • Ability to verbally express ideas, thoughts, and information so that it can be understood by others; ability to understand and accurately interpret the meaning, purpose, and importance of verbal and non-verbal messages

    • Good communication skills, motivation, and client-focus

    • Good organizational and time management skills

    Assets

    • Knowledge about Agile Project Management Framework

    • Familiar with UI design

    • Problem-solving skills

    The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
