Day in the Life:

 

The Assistant Planner is responsible for driving omni channel sales through optimal merchandise allocation strategies and localized vendor assortment recommendations. You will work closely with the Planner to achieve sales, profit, and inventory productivity objectives for merchandise categories, working in conjunction with one or more buying teams. The Assistant Planner will support the Planner and Merchant office with development and successful execution of topside financial plans, location plans, clustering and seasonal bucket planning.

What You Will Do:

Channel Management

  1. DIGITAL
  • Choice count management aligned to demand plans built by planning manager
  1. BRICKS
  • Gross SANS plan creation validated against X-sheets
  • Creation of store clusters
  • Choice count management by store cluster 

Allocation Review

  • Weekly reviews on sales performance vs. inventory by channel and store to identify in-season opportunities to help action based off stock to sales report provided by IA weekly
  • Support in the creation of “Chase orders” when applicable
  • Participation in monthly business review calls with the allocation team, buyer & planner to continue to improve business outcomes

DCM Reviews (Automatic Replenishment)

  • Weekly reviews on OOS & fill rates GAPS identified by RA and Inventory Lead
  • Participation in monthly business review calls with RA, Replenishment Lead, buyer and planner on performance by channel and store vs. plan
  • Vendor Forecast reviews and feedback monthly or as needed by business area based on defined calendar
  • DC Rebuy guidance monthly (HOME SPECIFIC)
  • AR rationalization reviews and subsequent actions (done each season) - to support strategy growth plans, turnover targets  & DC capacity planning

Analytics

  • Seasonal post mortem analysis & recommendations using Microstrategy and DCRM reporting tools
  • Prototype/unit capacity reviews
  • Brand and Item analysis by channel and store
  • Overall inventory productivity analysis
  • Optimal inventory for event analysis
  • Ad Hoc reporting

Exposure To Planning Functions

  • Ownership of a small business around all aspects of pre-season and in-season planning
  • In-season exposure to business/vendor meetings & prep
  • Business Management & Influence
  • Markdown Optimization

PO Tracking/Receipt Management

  • Communication of replenishment strategy changes to RA and Inventory Lead
  • Seasonal brand launch tracking & follow up
  • DC to store PO tracking and follow up using the merchandise tracker and assisting as needed with premium routing requests etc.

 

 

What You Will Need:

 

  • Post-Secondary education or commensurate retail experience
  • Understanding of supply chain operations and inventory management
  • Financial acumen
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • A natural problem-solver, who has an analytical bend and creative mindset
  • You understand the value of being proactive and solution-oriented
  • You have a can-do attitude and a curious mindset
  • You possess an entrepreneurial spirit
  • You have the ability to present data & influence discussion with peers and members of a cross-functional team
  • Approach your work through the lense of the customer to drive in-store and digital business
  • Proficiency in MS Office with intermediate skills in Excel
  • Tableau experience is an asset
