We are on the search for a dedicated, expert analyst to support the asset and lease accounting life cycle for various business units. This support includes creating assets, reconciling accounts and creating reports that support both internal and external financial reporting.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Perform financial analysis and investigations over asset and lease account balances, ensuring accuracy within the financial statements
  • Compile data to support internal decisions and analysis, external reporting requirements and external auditor requests
  • Coordinate the fixed asset module within SAP to carryout asset accounting transactions (e.g. asset creation, DD&A runs, asset modifications, and de-recognitions)
  • Create and manage leases within the lease accounting system
  • Identify and carryout improvement opportunities within existing processes and procedures
  • Participate as a key contributor to emerging projects within the team
  • Adhere to department processes, procedures and SOX controls

Must-haves (minimum requirement)

  • Two years of work experience in finance or accounting, preferably within the oil and gas industry
  • A Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
  • Flawless analytical and problem solving skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to quickly build and maintain positive relationships
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Enthusiasm, a drive to learn new things and demonstrate a high level of curiosity
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Previous experience in asset accounting and/or lease accounting
  • Completion of or enrolment in a financial designation or equivalent (CPA)
  • Familiarity or experience with SAP, Business Warehouse, Business Objects (BOBJ), Microsoft Power BI, and Livelink

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
