National Bank is currently undergoing the most significant technological transformation in its history and has many career opportunities to offer. As an Analyst or Associate FX Trader, you will cover a portfolio of commercial clients of the Bank exposed to financial market risks and help them manage those risks with rigor. 


Your role:

  • Effectively manage a portfolio of commercial and mid-market clients 
  • Structure risk management solutions tailored to clients’ hedging needs
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners 
  • Participate in business development activities 
  • Respect the high standards of service for the bank's clients (red carpet) 
  • Handle requests from the bank's internal partners (commercial and operations centers, bankers, etc.)
  • Ensure that credit policies are respected, and that legal documentation is up to date and complete 
  • Contribute to the organization's outreach by developing and maintaining excellent relationships within the industry

This position will report to the Managing Director, Risk Management Solutions Group. The final job title (analyst or associate) will depend on the experience of the chosen candidate. The person will become part of a team of 20 traders who cover the entire canadian territory. The team evolves in a hybrid mode, but selected individuals are allowed to work full time in our Montreal dealing room. This formula has proven very efficient for our team to facilitate the integration of recent colleagues and promote collaboration between partners. It also allows for a deep integration within our Financial Markets ecosystem, recognized for its dynamism and creativity.

Competencies required :

  • Completed Bachelor's degree in finance or related field (economics, accounting, financial engineering, actuarial, etc.) with 1 to 2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in foreign exchange, interest rates or commodity risk management
  • Experience in business development
  • Advanced knowledge of derivatives 
  • Good understanding of capital markets dynamics and macroeconomic trends
  • Ability to work under pressure and in high pace team environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bilingualism (English and French) required, as you will frequently serve clients who speak a language other than French

Preferred competencies :

  • Master's degree or CFA designation
  • Knowledge of programming languages (C++, Python, VBA)
