ACADEMIC CARDIOLOGIST

The Department of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University and Hamilton Health Sciences invite applications for an Academic Cardiologist. Applicants will have completed specialty training in Cardiology with additional training of at least one fellowship year in Echocardiography in a recognised program.

 

This is a Clinician Educator faculty position for a period of three years (renewable). Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications, experience, and expected contributions.

 

The successful candidate will be a member of the Division of Cardiology and will be expected to contribute to the academic mission of the Faculty and Division. The successful candidate should have appropriate fellowship training and will be expected to fully participate in all appropriate departmental and divisional educational activities.

 

Responsibilities will include the delivery of outpatient and inpatient care to patients. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities and provide teaching for trainees rotating through the inpatient and outpatient services. Applicants should have demonstrated ability to work with all members of the healthcare team, including non-physician health care providers.

 

Applicants must have a keen interest in women’s cardiovascular health and related Ischemia with Non-Obstructive Coronary Arteries (INOCA). The candidate will be expected to develop and lead a clinical outpatient program for INOCA patients. With the support of more senior division members, the applicant is expected to collaborate with National Registries and Quality Improvement in this new dynamic clinical area.

 

Applicants must be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario through the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
