Job Summary
The Emerging Risk team oversees the enterprise process for identifying, assessing, and monitoring emerging risks. Key activities include:
• Identifying, assessing, and monitoring the enterprise’s Emerging Risks, and communicating the associated analysis to senior-level audiences and decision-makers.
• As such, acting as Group Risk Management thought leaders on specific Emerging Risk issues (e.g., geopolitical tensions, such as those connected to China, Russia, and the Middle East, inflation, supply chain disruption, artificial intelligence, crypto-assets, trade wars, political polarization and unrest, impact of COVID-19).
• Conducting tabletop exercises among senior RBC leaders to help assess the organization’s preparedness for specific risks, facilitate the exchange of knowledge, and develop action plans to address any identified gaps.
• Supporting and enabling risk identification and assessment across the enterprise.
Job Description
The Analyst, Enterprise Risk will:
- Support the identification and assessment of enterprise-wide Emerging Risks, by performing research and analysis, assessing risk impacts to RBC, and assisting with the development of presentations and white papers.
- Monitor global economic, geopolitical, societal, technological, and other trends and developments, and contributing to team analyses and publications.
- Support the preparation of quarterly and annual reporting of Top and Emerging Risks to senior management and the Board.
- Support the updating of risk inventories, where required.
- Support the development of scenarios for tabletop exercises and other processes, where required..
- Perform other duties to support the achievement of the Emerging Risk and Portfolio & Emerging Risk Management teams’ mandates, as required.

Must-have
- Working towards a business-related university degree.
- General understanding and awareness of current global events and basic economic concepts.
- Excellent writing and research skills, strong interpersonal skills, and conceptual thinker.
- An ability to understand and explain complex concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
Nice-to-have
- Proficiency with Bloomberg and other market sources
- Advanced proficiency with Excel
- Coding/programming skills
- Familiarity with emerging technologies

Through this role, the Analyst, Enterprise Risk will:
- Work with a wide variety of groups across the bank, including:
- The Emerging Risk team and the broader Portfolio & Emerging Risk Management team;
- Other areas of Group Risk Management, such as Credit Risk, Market Risk, Environmental and Social Risk, and Operational Risk; and
- Other areas of RBC outside GRM, such as individuals from business segments representing the First Line of Defense, Economics, Corporate Treasury, and Enterprise Strategy.
- Gain a broad understanding of how the bank operates, including the role of our business segments and functional units, and how the bank may be exposed to emerging trends within the industry.
- Develop fundamental knowledge of risk management.
Please note: This posting is for a 4-months Fall 2025 Student placement with a start date of September 2025 and end date of December 2025. In order to be eligible for this 4-months Student position, you must either:
- Be returning back to school after the work term end-date of December 2025 ; or
- If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in December 2025), you must require the full 4-months work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.
