Job Description

What is the opportunity?
This role will jointly support Performance Managements Cost Advisory and Platform PM team. You will assist in enhancing the delivery of reporting to senior business leaders and other Finance partners for both financial and non-financial data as it relates to costs. This role will appeal to individuals who want to work in a fast-paced area that has significant visibility and a high profile across RBC Capital Markets.
 

What will you do?

  • Maintain and improve the tracking and reporting of CM projects and costs initiatives benefits

  • Help to assess the financial impact of initiatives/strategic business decisions, and incorporate the impacts into future financial forecasts/plans

  • Develop, in conjunction with the Manager/Associate Director/Director, ad hoc analytical tools and initiatives, including automation of key processes and reporting mechanisms

  • Be involved throughout month end and quarter end P&L close process, completing key analysis and reconciliations including liaising with key finance personnel globally

  • Perform ad hoc analyses for senior management to improve the understanding of business drivers and opportunities to improve performance, revenues or cost reduction through strategic business decisions.

What do you need to succeed?
Must-have

  • Experience in PowerPoint presentation and/or presentation tools

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to employ techniques in Microsoft Excel

  • Motivated individual who can work under pressure in a high pressure, high reward environment

  • Organizational skills and ability to prioritize activities

  • Interest in obtaining a CPA or CFA


Nice-to-have

  • Exposure to Capital Markets products and businesses

  • Experience in an accounting/finance and reporting environment

  • Knowledge and experience using analytical tools and managing large datasets

Please note: 

In order to be eligible for these student positions, you must either: 

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date; or 
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating immediately after the work term), you must require the full work term as a mandatory component in order to graduate successfully
