2023 CAE Group, Fall Data Analyst, Data Products (4 Months)

Job Description

The Role

A 16 week summer internship program (September to December 2023) based in Toronto where you will take ownership in driving key analytic projects across internal audit. The exceptional candidate will be required to build and manage trusting relationships across various teams and regions including Toronto and the UK. There will be the opportunity to collaborate with technical staff that work across the entire data ecosystem whilst being mentored by a senior Data Scientist. A candidate that has a curious mindset and the drive to drive transformational change via data-driven and innovative solutions will excel in this role.

What will you do?

  • Apply your skills in exploratory and statistical analysis on a diverse range of data sources.

  • Write code to automate key business controls to help auditors continuously monitor risk across the bank.

  • Uncover latent patterns in high-dimensional data and present findings of key insights to various stakeholder groups.

  • Collaborate with data scientists and auditors to develop innovative data products.

  • Support senior data analysts and data scientists on project engagements.

  • Monitor automated data pipelines for quality control.

  • Design and maintain productionized dashboards for our end users.


What do you need to succeed?

  • Working towards a Degree in a quantitative field

  • Experience with either Python or R as well as SQL

  • Strong grasp of fundamentals in statistics

  • Demonstrated experience with common analytical packages such as pandas, numpy, dplyr, sci-kit learn, ggplot2 and matplotlib

  • Strong communication skills

  • A curious and innovative mindset towards problem solving


Nice to have

  • Experience developing interactive dashboards in Tableau (or similar tool)

  • Previous data analyst internship experience

  • Understanding of software engineering design principles

  • An interest in finance
