What you'll do
CT REIT is currently looking for a Senior Real Estate Lawyer to join our legal team. You will report to our SVP, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary and you will be responsible for the preparation and negotiation of legal documentation in connection with all acquisitions, dispositions, developments and leasing transactions, and will also be supporting the property management, asset management and leasing teams.
- Primary responsibility for a broad range of transactions including acquisitions, dispositions, developments, commercial leasing, and financing of mixed-use properties.
- Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing a wide array of ancillary documents related to real estate matters.
- Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing documentation for various corporate structures such as joint ventures, co-ownerships, partnerships etc.
- Supporting asset management, leasing, property management and construction teams on various transactions, real estate matters and precedent development.
- Supporting development team on various municipal applications, expropriations, easements, restrictive covenants, and title matters.
- Supporting business teams on interpreting legal agreements.
- Managing document and transaction processes.
- Overseeing lease administration.
- Overseeing the maintenance of real estate document management system.
- Managing selection of and communication with external counsel across Canada.
- Communicating and acting as liaison between business and external counsel.
What you bring
- JD degree from accredited law school.
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- 6-10 years of experience advising on a broad range of commercial real estate matters gained in a law firm environment or a commercial real estate organization.
- Excellent documentation, drafting and negotiation skills.
- Strong attention to detail, good judgement, organized and time management skills to coordinate competing priorities and deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
