JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Manager, Grid Technology, the position is responsible for coordinating, directing and scheduling activities of the Grid Technology Support section. Strong supervisory skills and a thorough understanding of computing, CAD, GIS, OMS and SCADA concepts are key elements of this position.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate, direct and schedule all support and training activities of the Grid Technology Support section to meet the requirements of the LDC.
Oversee the day-to-day integration and support of CAD, GIS, OMS, SCADA and other large technological changes in operational and field areas including system merges with DMS, CIS and AMI programs.
Supervise SCADA and GIS Specialists and additional support staff. Includes the development of individual and team objectives, performance management, training and coaching.
Conduct interviews and hire full time staff, summer students and contractors.
Develop, implement and provide quality control monitoring for SCADA, CAD, GIS and OMS utility standards and procedures.
Oversee all departmental SCADA, geo-spatial CAD, GIS and GPS software purchases and maintenance agreements.
Develop, administer and support new SCADA, CAD, GIS, OMS and field technology software installations and configurations throughout the utility.
Recommend mobile hardware computing solutions
Negotiate digital mapping and data acquisitions from external parties.
Develop and coordinate GIS land base maintenance and thematic mapping programs.
Work in cooperation with Grid Technology Development staff and external customers to recommend and implement technological strategies for the utility.
Coordinate the input of plant record data to the GIS with the Supervisor of GIS and Distribution Records
Coordinate and organize plant records digital storage space.
Participate in the budget process for the Grid Technology department, approve expenditures up to the corporate signing authority and monitor section expenses.
Develop/maintain contact and represent Hydro Ottawa in communications with utility agencies, municipalities, data conversion vendors and other external customers on geo-spatial issues.
Participate in regular rotational after hours on-call technical support responsibilities as required.
Support the corporate health and safety program within the areas of responsibility, report unsafe conditions and promote safe work procedures
Perform other duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A college diploma or university degree in a technical or business discipline.
Minimum of 5 years in SCADA or CAD drafting and GIS supervisory experience in a utility environment.
Computer expertise, particularly in computer-aided drafting and MS Office
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
English language skills essential, Bilingualism (French/English) an asset
