The BlackBerry IoT Business Unit combines BlackBerry’s core IoT assets across the company. One of groups within the IoT Business Unit is BlackBerry Radar, which is an innovative service for managing and optimizing fleet operations for businesses in the transportation sector. Solving our customers most common transportation and logistics challenges, BlackBerry® Radar can be used for tracking trailers, intermodal containers & chassis, equipment, railcars and more.
All BlackBerry Radar tracking data is secured with BlackBerry encryption and authentication services; the devices are powered by BlackBerry® QNX®, our OS for embedded systems. BlackBerry Radar devices are rugged and low maintenance, equipped with batteries that can last as much as five years.

The BlackBerry Radar team is looking for a talented Sensor Developer with extensive experience in product development and design. As a member of the team, you will work with cutting edge technologies to design, develop, and maintain sensors and their algorithms to measure data and provide solutions. You will partner with a team of hardware and software engineers to bring-up and troubleshoot new products and investigate in-field issues. What you’ll do:
- Collaborate with team members to understand customer use cases, and aid in the design, implementation and documentation of on-board sensors
- Select technologies and develop solutions from concept through production
- Develop algorithms for various sensor systems
- Read and provide input for technical documentation and schematics
- Provide project estimates for requirements, design, implementation, and test efforts. Work productively and effectively with minimal oversight. Proactively identify and communicate issues as they arise
- Contribute to process improvement while establishing best practices for development
- Foster innovation and perform other duties as assigned
You will have:
- Significant experience working with MEMS sensors and algorithm development
- Accelerometer, gyroscope, temperature, pressure, humidity or similar
- Proven ability to analyze logs and strong troubleshooting skills
- Experience with:
- circuit design
- optical sensors
- MEMS sensors
- Algorithms
- Bachelor’s or higher in Electrical Engineering or relevant experience
- Self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Strong planning, organizational and time management skills
