We are looking for an experienced leader to organize and oversee the daily operations of our company. You will be the one to ensure our business is well-coordinated and productive by managing its procedures and coaching its people. This executive will be at the centre of future success, cultivating an inclusive culture that embraces change and innovation.
This is a challenging, multi-dimensional position with many responsibilities-operational, contractual, technical, financial and HR related. The ideal candidate must be competent and able to plan, lead, direct, develop and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Operations Team, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of organization’s talent strategy. The area of responsibility for this role is very wide and thus requires thorough knowledge of various company processes.
In a “ONE Team” approach oversee and provide direction for the management of the day- to -day operations of the following departments:
- Scheduling Department
- Travel Department
- Operations & Engineering – Fulltime Operators and Engineers
- Remote Operations – Independent Contractors and Freelance Operators and Engineers
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior-level management peers in the development of performance short- and long-term operational goals.
- Instrumental in shaping the strategic direction of an organization's broadcast operations.
- Foster a positive work environment, develop a strong organizational culture and align HR practices within the company’s objectives.
- Oversee Management team from different departments and provide constructive feedback.
- Develop, implement and monitor day-to-day operational processes that provide visibility into goals, progress and obstacles for our key initiatives.
- Provides overall leadership and direction for the management team to effectively manage the day-to-day operations including work-flows, schedules, procedures, payroll related programs. Is the escalation point for unresolved issues.
- Provides effective and timely performance input, feedback, training to managers to ensure a highly productive and responsive management team and operations group.
- Proactive approach in handling changes as they occur and address in a timely manner.
- Oversees staff and freelance training, employee safety, and quality for remote and studio productions.
- Interact with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Review financial information and adjust operational budgets to promote profitability.
- Devise strategies to ensure growth of programs enterprise-wide, identifying and implementing process improvements that will maximize output and minimize costs.
- Ability to streamline and implement new structures and roles that create speed, efficiency, and support rapidly shifting business demands.
- Ensure that the company runs legality and conformity to established international, national and provincial regulations.
- Adherence to good health and safety practices and compliance with applicable health and safety regulations.
- Work closely with Senior Management Peers to lead team with integrity and establish and maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment.
Critical Qualifications
- 10+ years senior leadership role in the media/broadcast remote industry
- Deep experience in Broadcast Operational, Personnel and Facilities Management.
- Proven experience leading a local broadcast organization.
- In-depth understanding of various aspects of broadcasting technology. Familiarity with both linear and non-linear.
- Proficiency in broadcast technologies, i.e. streaming, encoding, etc.
- Passion for the business with a solid understanding of media/broadcast/event production operations, including crewing, scheduling, signal flow, and production requirements.
- Excellent communications skills with a ''get it done'' sense of urgency is needed for this fast- paced opportunity.
- Critical thinking capability to solve problems, recommend solutions in a time sensitive, rapidly changing environment.
- Proven success in managing represented employees within a large corporate environment.
- Experience in planning, implementing and independently leading multiple projects
- Superior communication, analytical, design, planning and management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational, communication, problem-solving and leadership abilities.
- Experience managing budgeting processes and strategic planning.
