About the role
We are seeking an IT Senior Financial Analyst to join us in our Montreal IT Finance team. If you are detail oriented, love working with IT project budgets, forecasts, and are tenacious about quality, this may be the right opportunity for you!
This dynamic role will require a balance of technical numerical proficiency, strong relationship building skills, and a good knowledge of project and operational portfolio financial management. You must possess strong organizational skills to lead and produce monthly reports and presentations that speak to IT executive management.
What you’ll do here:
- Initiate and contribute to designing and implementing new processes for performance monitoring and for measuring and comparing performance against budget.
- Review and analyze forecasts prepared by Financial Coordinators.
- Active participation with continuous improvement and standardization teams to ensure they meet team objectives.
- Collect industry information to benchmark our performance against the IT and insurance industries.
- Build roadmaps for key processes for the team such as depreciation, capitalization, accruals and forecast follow up.
- Prepare and consolidate IT level presentations to accurately and concisely explain team results, actions and development.
- Analyzing, interpreting and communicating cost and expense variances to management.
- Verifying cost allocations according to company procedures.
- Assisting with financial planning and budgeting processes, analyzing financial statements and reports, developing financial models, preparing projections to validate internal forecasts, and performing research and analysis as may be required by leadership.
- Contribute to the new simplify view of tracking expenses and performance for all IT.
- Participate in/and assume responsibility for special projects or mandates.
What you bring to the table:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or any combination of equivalent education and experience’
- At least one of the following designations: CPA (CMA, CGA, CA)
- 7+ years of relevant experience
- Solid skills in PowerPoint, Excel and relational database
- Skills in data extraction / manipulation / synthesizing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Can multitask and handle multiple priorities with time-sensitive deadlines
- Curious and autonomous with customer focus
- Attention to detail and quality is essential.
- Effective, clear, and concise communication and presentation skills and the ability to adapt to a wide audience.
- Can work independently or on a team
- Can interact with people at all levels of the company, including senior management and external partners
- For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country
