About the role
The Distribution Financial Strategies team is expanding! Join a dynamic team of professionals in charge of an investment portfolio at the core of Intact’s growth strategy. We manage a wide portfolio in distribution, looking at ways we can consistently expand our network. You will participate and advise on complex transactions, monitor our portfolio performance and benefit from the knowledge and support of skilled teammates to up your game in accounting, finance and insurance.
We’re looking for an Accounting Specialist!
What you’ll do here:
- Management of internal monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting by working closely with various distribution entities and finance teams.
- Produce distribution results and forecasts.
- Analyze and understand results in collaboration with business partners.
- Advise the team on the accounting and operationalization of complex transactions and financial restructurings.
- Support our business units in the management of their financial performance, including our portfolio of private equity.
- Participate in the financial systems and accounting processes improvement initiatives.
- Participate in the budget process.
- Take a critical look at the controls in place and the various accounting treatments related to our operations.
- Make recommendations and suggestions to management based on your expertise.
- Simplify, standardize, secure and increase controls of different work files.
What you bring to the table:
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) or any combination of equivalent education and experience
- Minimum 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in accounting, IFRS accounting standards and/or finance
- Knowledge of the insurance industry is an asset
- Fast learning, agility and adaptability to change
- Discipline, autonomy, resourcefulness and professionalism
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Can interact with various people at all levels of the organization, including management and some external stakeholders
- For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
- No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
