Bell’s commitment to supporting the many facets of diversity includes our LGBT Affinity groups (currently in Toronto and Montréal), which focus on providing peer support, mentoring, networking opportunities, community involvement and creating LGBT awareness.
Vision for the futureThe Bell Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Affinity Group hopes to build on its success by creating an open and supportive network to help remove existing barriers and fears related to sexual orientation and identification. As a network that embraces diversity, LGBT friends and supporters are encouraged to become members and to participate in events.
The Bell LGBT Affinity Group is focused on a number of initiatives to grow and strengthen the group. We are establishing local LGBT primes in our various locations, seeking out opportunities for community involvement, improved visibility both inside and outside of Bell and continuing to host networking events for our members.
I am proud to have played a part in the creation of an LGBT Affinity Group at Bell. My peers from the Steering Committee and I shared a common belief that such a group would be extremely beneficial. Being a minority, especially in a large corporation can be very isolating. Creating a group like this provides a sense of belonging for members of the LGBT community.
