What is the opportunity?

 

This position lies within the First Line IT Risk Management Team and is responsible for ensuring that RBC Suppliers are successfully assessed at the time of on-boarding. The team you support will also be monitoring existing suppliers to ensure their IT environments remain within RBC's risk appetite, and that significant changes to a supplier environment are assessed and filtered back into the re-assessment process. Your team is also monitoring to ensure that IT vulnerabilities have been satisfactorily addressed by the Supplier and that new and emerging risks have been identified. What will you do?

 

  • Assess the security of RBC outsourcing initiatives, including onsite inspections and review of physical and logical controls
  • Provide support to other consultants through mentoring and peer reviews of work products as required
  • Track and archive assessment review documents
  • Develop and maintain key business relationships in order to provide expertise and oversight on new initiatives
  • Actively lead the evaluation and exploration of new technologies that will assist in improvements to existing IT risk assessment and continuous monitoring processes
  • Build and maintain a reporting metrics that provides our executives with information to make sound decisions in terms of our changing IT risk posture

 

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:

 

  • University degree or equivalent
  • 5 - 10 years’ experience in a leadership role or equivalent experience
  • Solid experience in the financial services or other regulated industries
  • Sound knowledge of the Cyber and IT Risk Frameworks
  • Certification (or equivalent experience) in a recognized IT Risk Management program (e.g. CRISC, CISSP, CISM)
  • Experience in developing risk management strategy, roadmaps and control assessment programs
  • Excellent change management skills, demonstrating the ability to sort through  complex change, and generate actionable items that can be taken through to implementation
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, leading discussions and making sound and confident decisions

 

Nice-to-have:

 

  • Exposure to Third Party IT risk experience in a cross section of environments
  • Understanding of new and emerging technologies that assist in IT risk management
  • General knowledge of Security technology; Access Control products, Authentication, Network security
  • Knowledge of Project Management (PMF) process/disciplines and Agile Development Methodology
