Do you love breaking news? Are you a driven journalist with a passion for radio? NEWS 1130 has a rare and exciting opening for a Midday Producer. This full-time position reports to the Senior Managing Editor at our studio in Vancouver.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the on-air editorial direction of NEWS 1130’s weekday mid-day programming
  • Assigns reporters to cover stories relevant to the NEWS 1130 audience
  • Lines up newscasts from 10am to 2pm
  • Produces radio content for use during the mid-days, and other dayparts as needed
  • Liaises with web editors to ensure NEWS 1130.com has the freshest and most compelling content available
  • Works a standard 7:30a-2:30p Monday-Friday schedule, but be available for other shifts as needed

 

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited broadcast journalism program
  • 5 years’ experience in a major market newsroom in Canada
  • A motivated self-starter with a drive to have the latest news on-air on NEWS 1130
  • Impeccable written and verbal communication skills
  • A vibrant social media presence and the ability to use it to generate and track down news stories
  • A proven ability to lead and motivate others, while working well within a team
