Scope of Position

To aid the pharmacy in the production of prescriptions and provide optimal customer service.

Key Accountability/Responsibility

Cash Register (10%)
Operation of the Cash Register
Ringing in prescriptions and haba
Calling customers to pick up owes or prescriptions

Administration (15%)
Final approval for drug orders through pharmaclik
Maintaining perpetual inventory system in Kroll
Making sure the shelf inventory matches the Kroll system inventory
Make adjustments to the CAO logic to ensure adequate stock levels
Kroll reports
Running weekly and monthly business reports
Third party balancing
Reconciling accounts and collecting outstanding monies from patients where necessary
Receiving inventory
Receiving and putting away McKesson orders
Ensuring proper storage of medication (ie. Refrigeration etc.)
Expired goods return
Obtain credit through McKesson and destruction through hazardous waste container or return to McKesson/vendor
Ordering through pharmaclik
Special order items such as crutch tips, or excessive prescription quantities.
Janitorial duties as required
Putting away garbage rotating stock cleaning
Answering the phones from customers not physicians
Demonstration of medical services
Other administrative duties as required

Front Shop Merchandising (5%)
Ordering and maintaining the behind the counter section
Receiving and putting away McKesson orders
Lock and leave maintenance
Putting up gates at the end of the day and removing them in the morning
Dealing with customer inquiries on the location of over the counter

Production (65%)
Data entry on new prescriptions
Deciphering the prescription and entering into the system to generate a label
Filling refills
Preparing compounds
Calculation of drug amounts and mixing accurately
Accepting the prescriptions
Accept prescriptions/refills from customers in person or via telephone
Assembly of prescriptions counting stock selection
Affixing labels, putting product in vials
Refilling baker cells/Pac meds
Preparing blister packing

Quality Assurance (5%)

Ensuring quality control (ie prescription errors etc.)

Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledgeable of technical specialties or process requirements; capable of implementing practical procedures of systems which are moderately complex, and/or use specialized skills which require some specific knowledge to apply. Some leadership skills may be required.

High School Diploma required
Pharmacy assistant Diploma preferred

Work Experience:

1-3 years of work-related experience required to effectively perform the job’s responsibilities

Supervisory Experience:
Has the authority to direct or oversee the employee’s daily work activities. Does not have authority to undertake or recommend the following employment actions; hiring, termination, corrective action or performance reviews.

Decision Making and Problem Solving:

Work towards objectives using a more general frame of reference, but with some practices and
procedures. Finding solutions requires analytical, interpretive and evaluative thinking.
Discusses their recommendations with the Pharmacy manager

Dealing with customer complaints and solving administrative problems with scripts related to data entry and third party communication.
This role takes direction from pharmacists and pharmacy managers.

Impact and Results:
High impact on the customer service outcome.

Ability to manage clerks to meet the overall needs of the business/customer demands.

Work Environment:

Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about. Occasionally required to stoop or lift light material or equipment.

Work and environment are very repetitious/unchanging. There is noticeable pressure

You must be available for the required shift(s) and be able to lift up to 50lbs depending on the department.
