What is the opportunity?

 

Reporting to the Director, Capital Markets, Internal Audit, you will provide independent and objective assessment of the effectiveness of risk management practices, internal controls and governance processes in the Capital Markets space. You will help to create solutions that support units in complying with regulatory requirements, following RBC policies and implementing industry best practices.

 

What will you do?

 

  • Be part of a team of professional auditors responsible for Capital Markets audits with a focus on overall Corporate & Investment Banking and/or Global Markets business lines.
  • Contribute to audit planning that ensures adequate coverage of all areas of an audit to permit the issuance of an overall opinion on internal controls and risk management practices to senior management.
  • Execute an audit plan and ensure effective audit practices for traditional audits and continuous monitoring , including Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (SOX)
  • Implement individual audit engagement plans that ensure adequate coverage of all areas of Capital Markets to permit the issuance of an overall opinion on internal controls and risk management practices to senior management
  • Maintain Internal Audit standards in the planning, execution and reporting of audits.
  • Provide consulting, advisory services or lead an audit of a business as required, which are practices consistent with our role to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes, providing the services do not represent a conflict of interest or detract from our mandate.
  • Participate in complex and confidential special audit projects enterprise wide as requested by senior management of the Bank.

 

What do you need to succeed?

 

Must-have:

  • CA/ CPA or similar equivalent undergraduate degree with financial services background
  • Minimum 3  years of Financial Institution (preferably Banking) experience/ previous audit experience
  • Strong working background/ previous experience with Capital Markets products and operational processes
  • Must have the ability to quickly understand the risks associated with new services and/ or routines, products related to Capital Markets and to formulate practical audit procedures to adequately monitor new risk and ensure adherence to limits.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate a wide variety of complex information in both oral and written format
  • Proficient time management and organizational skills
  • Open to travel as 10-20% travel required

 

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Knowledge of Canadian, US and International regulatory standards, auditing standards and business processes in the financial securities environment
